CHOOSING THE RIGHT SERVICE
Not sure whether you need foils, balayage, toner or bleach?
Many clients know the look they want, but not the exact service name. Here is a simple guide before booking.
Foils & Highlights
Best for adding lighter pieces through the hair, creating dimension, brightness and a softer grow-out than full bleach.
Balayage / Ombre Style Colour
Best for a softer, lived-in blonde effect with brightness through the mid-lengths and ends. Pricing may vary depending on hair length and colour history.
On-Scalp Bleach
Best for a stronger all-over blonde result or regrowth lightening. This usually needs careful consultation, toner and maintenance.
Toner
Used after lightening to refine the shade, reduce unwanted warmth and create a softer blonde, beige, ash or creamy finish.

Why clients book blonde with Smart Hair
PLANNING YOUR COLOUR
Before Going Blonde
Blonde and bleach services depend on your current hair colour, previous colour history, hair condition and the result you want. Darker natural hair, old permanent colour, box dye or fragile hair may need a more careful lightening plan.
01
Your starting colour matters
Previously coloured or very dark hair may not lift to a clean blonde immediately.
02
Hair condition comes first
We will recommend a realistic approach if your hair needs strengthening, trimming or treatment support before more lightening.
03
Toner and maintenance are part of blonde hair
Most blonde results need toner, home care and regular maintenance to stay fresh.
BLONDE FAQS
Blonde & Highlights FAQs
Can I go blonde in one appointment?
Sometimes, yes. A major blonde transformation may be possible in one long appointment if there is enough time and budget for multiple lightening rounds, toner and finishing. However, the final result still depends on your starting colour, previous colour history and hair condition. If the hair is too fragile, we may recommend a staged plan to protect the condition of your hair.
What is the difference between foils, highlights and balayage?
Foils and highlights usually suit brighter lift and more controlled placement, including colour from the roots or selected sections. Balayage or ombre-style colour is usually softer and more lived-in, with brightness through the mid-lengths and ends.
How much do blonde highlights cost?
As a guide, 1/2 head foils with toner and finishing start from $265, and full head foils with toner and finishing start from $335. Final pricing depends on hair length, thickness, colour history and the amount of lift required.
Do I need toner after bleach or highlights?
Most blonde and lightening services need toner. Toner helps refine the colour after lightening and can soften unwanted warmth, create a cooler blonde, beige blonde, creamy blonde or a more natural finish.
Should I book a consultation first if my hair is dark or previously coloured?
Yes, a consultation is recommended for major colour changes, previous permanent colour, box dye or fragile hair. Dark or previously coloured hair can lift unevenly and may need more than one lightening round, toner work or a staged plan to protect the condition of your hair.
Will bleach damage my hair?
Bleach is a strong lightening service, so hair condition matters. We will recommend a realistic plan based on your hair condition and colour history. For fragile or damaged hair, staged lightening or treatment support may be safer than pushing the hair too far.
